The design for a docking pier for London’s Thames Clipper serves to connect the future development of Royal Wharf to the centre of London. The form of the pier shelter was shaped by the potential views to the Millennium Dome to the West and Thames Flood Gates to the East. By using these focal points to inspire the design, we created viewing platforms and manipulated the roof in order to orientate the users’ views. The dock not only acts as a waiting space but also serves as a social space where users can meet and enjoy the surrounding context.
